Four directions stood out in Rivera's Spring/Summer 2026 dress collection: shirt-dress silhouettes, asymmetry, minimalist designs and watercolour-effect prints. This article remains as an editorial guide to that season and a reference for styling these types of dresses beyond 2026.
Specific SS26 styles may no longer be available as collections change. For the current range, browse Rivera women's dresses.
Which dresses defined Rivera's summer 2026 collection?
Rivera's SS26 range used flowing dresses and different pattern-cutting techniques for looks ranging from everyday wear to more special occasions. Four families summarise much of that aesthetic direction.
1. Shirt dresses
The shirt dress starts from shirt codes—such as buttons, a collar or front structure—and can take on very different lengths and volumes.
In SS26 it appeared in relaxed versions that could be combined with flat footwear and simple accessories. For more ideas, see our guide to styling a shirt dress.
2. Asymmetric dresses
Asymmetry can appear in hems, necklines, layers or colour placement. In Rivera's 2026 collection it was used to introduce movement and break the symmetry of the silhouette.
You do not need to reserve this type of dress for one particular occasion: fabric, footwear and accessories determine much of its level of formality.
3. Minimalist dresses
Clean-lined designs reduce visible detail to give greater emphasis to pattern, colour and drape. “Minimalist” describes an aesthetic, not a guarantee of comfort or a particular composition.
Before choosing, check the measurements, fabric and construction of the available style.
4. Watercolour-effect prints
Blurred, multicolour prints were another direction present in SS26. To style them, use one of their shades as a reference for footwear or accessories, or keep the rest of the look more neutral.
How to style a summer dress by day
Sandals, ballet flats or trainers can take a dress in different directions. Choose according to the plan, how far you will walk and the level of formality. Browse the women's sandals currently available.
How to adapt a summer dress for evening
A light jacket, long jacket or change of accessories can adjust the outfit as temperatures fall. You do not need to transform the look completely.
If you need a layer, browse women's long jackets or our guide to lightweight jackets for summer evenings.
Which fabric should you choose for a summer dress?
There is no single fibre suitable for every summer dress. Composition, fabric weight, structure, lining and design all influence how the garment performs. Always check the specific product page.
Rivera design and a view beyond one season
Rivera SS26 dresses were designed in Spain and made in carefully selected workshops. The collection worked with pattern cutting, materials and responsible processes within that season's creative proposal.
Most of the workshops we work with are in Spain, within proximity of our Madrid offices. Although this guide documents SS26, our intention is for garments to be combined and used beyond one campaign.
